May we all seek to "bear much fruit" in this crazy world where we have been planted. Without God on our side, we "can do nothing" of any value in His kingdom. John 15:1-8 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." A few verses after these, we are called to "love one another" and also remember that the world hated Jesus, first. We are not alone in our daily battles.John reminds us that it can be difficult to remember that we are not to be like the world, but should desire to be filled with Jesus and His word.
And, that is your bible lesson for today! Go and bear much fruit!
I am still trying to paint every day of September! This month has actually gone by very quickly! This is painting 26 of 30.
I have had requests to paint angels over the years, but I always decline. I have painted angels on ornaments, before. They turned out very cute. My reason for not painting angels is because of the lack of originality. There are so many angels painted by so many different artists, out there. How do you paint an angel and not appear to be copying another artist? I finally gave in and painted an angel, today. I think my angels turned out to be quite original.
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2
Well, last night's game was a total bummer. We watched Clemson beat up on our Georgia Tech team and finally left the game before it ended. It was a tough night. Still love my Yellow Jackets, though! On to my art - I'm enjoying the new acorns I have been creating. Here are two more I painted today....
Large Acorn Scattering 12"x12" on wood
Those are paintings Number 23 and 24 for September!
We are STILL waiting on the fall weather in Georgia. (High near 90 degrees expected again, today!) I've done my part to bring autumn this direction - I painted several pumpkins and now some acorns. At least the calendar agrees that summer is over. I am happy with these new acorns I attempted, this morning....
Oh, I guess I will just create art, instead! Here are two paintings for Day 21.
I whipped these out this morning, instead of mopping my kitchen floor. I spent 10 hours in the car, yesterday. My dad lives in Tennessee and I ran up to see him for the day. It always amazes me how a long drive can wipe me out. I don't know if it is simply a mental thing where I decide in my head that I am tired, or if I am actually physically tired from the drive. It was a beautiful day, yesterday. The leaves in the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains are thinking about changing - not quite there, just yet! There you go - kitchens, art, and leaves in the mountains. I hit a variety of topics, this morning.
